First Blood and Double Down - 11/21/2018 1:08 AM
The work schedule has had me working everyday since I can't remember when, so I had to call in sick just to get out in the woods. Luckily the boss is cool and said he is looking for some jerky soon.
I was undecided where I would go, so I brought both the tree stand and the ground blind and I ended up on the south side of the place I was hunting, in the blind near a single trail that proved to be surprisingly very active.
It didn't take long for the doe to step out in the small clearing, and stopped when I bleated at her. Boom, and down she went. Dead right there to the Ruger Super Redhawk stoked with Underwood 340gr. +P+ Hard Cast 44 mag loads.
Within minutes, the small buck trailing her, walked right up to her and stood there looking at her, providing a perfect broadside shot at 40 yards. Boom, and down he went. Dead right there as well.
So, after a long 20 minutes in the blind, I was tagged out for the day.
Looks like the boss is going to get some jerky after all.
