Trigger pull weight

Just wondering what's the preferred trigger pull weight most handgun hunters use? I've never handgun hunted but will give it a try this fall for whitetail deer and wild hogs. I bought a nice used freedom arms 454 with a 7.5" barrel. I had a local gunsmith check the trigger pull and he said it was 3.5 lbs. I guess the simple answer is whatever weight you shoot the best groups with or is safe. I thought that pull was fairly light for a factory pistol trigger but feels great.

3.25 to 3.5 lbs is my preference.

2 lb or less. My BFR I?ve got dialed in at 1 lb 13 oz.

Right around two pounds for me too. But more than weight, it?s the quality of the trigger that matters most. No creep and a really clean break are important to me.

I have a Freedom Arms 83 that is right at 3lbs. I actually wouldn't mind it being closer to 3.5-4 lbs. I agree with Max though, crisp is more important. I also shoot a lot of 1911's and one has a trigger of 4.75 lbs but it is so clean and crisp I think that it is lighter.

I won't claim to speak for everyone, but my preference is a 2 pound or lighter pull on any firearm I'm shooting for accuracy at 100 yards or further. My Encore frame breaks right at that weight. Wouldn't mind it being a bit lighter, but I'm fine with it at the moment. My Optima and Model 460 trigger pulls are 2.5 and 3 pounds, but they're very crisp.

I was told by the guy at Freedom Arms who did the action jobs on all my model 83's that 3.0 lbs. is the minimum Freedom Arms will set one of their revolvers at. I go with a 2.0 lb. pull on my bolt action single shot hunting rigs.

I'm probably the odd guy, but I prefer a little heavier trigger but it must break clean.
