Ruger grips

Ruger grips - 12/30/2019 12:12 AM

I'm going to be adding a new Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in the near future. I can't decide on the regular grip or the Bisley. I really like the looks of the Bisley but have never handled one. I've owned many regular Super Blackhawks with the square trigger guard and have had to put hogue grips on every one of them. Unfortunately I can't find a Bisley in my area to handle it before I order one. All my research seems to lean to the Bisley. I prefer it's looks over the standard grip. What's everyone else prefer? I'd appreciate any advice. For the record I have fairly large hands but short fat fingers and can shoot full size Glocks well with no complaints.

I have shot both and have just in my opinion, the Bisley looks and feels much better. I was expecting the worst when I touched off my first 454 Casull in a blackhawk bisley, but was pleasantly surprised by the way the grip handled the recoil.

I own and shoot both. I like the looks of the dragoon grip better than the Bisley, but the Bisley has a better natural point of aim and handles recoil better...Just my opinion and such.

I enjoy shooting with Bisley grips better. Handles recoil really well and they are comfortable for me.

I love the look of a Colt Bisley, others leave me cold to indifferent. As for handling and shooting I much prefer a plow handle grip, the RX3-red being my favorite. Everyone seems to prefer the Bisley for heavy recoil, since my upper level of recoil tolerance is a good 44 mag load I cant/wont compare.

WHAT WORK BEST FOR ME IN A RUGER SA IS THE BISLEY GRIP FRAME, BUT THAT IS ME, OTHER GUYS LIKE REGULAR BLACKHAWK, SBH WITH A SQUARED TRIGGER GUARD, AND WHATEVER. WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU/WHAT YOU MAY LIKE BEST YOU WON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU HAVE SHOT BOTH WITH HOT LOADS. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE "IN THE BLIND" GO WITH A BISLEY.

I'll vote for the Bisley grip. Definitely the way to go in my opinion.
I have the SBH with a Bisley grip. Very happy with it...other than having to change the cylinder pin to keep it from popping out.

All good now.

Thanks for the the replies, hopefully I can find one to try before going blind. I do know I absolutely hate the small Blackhawk grip, the square super grip gets my knuckle, so bisley would probably work for me. Thanks again

Bisley all the way...

Don't think your knuckle is safe with the bisley grip. That being said, I like the bisley for the heavy recoiling guns. Just need to get the hand placement right.

Well all my search was in vain. My loving wife bought me a brand new regular Stainless Super Blackhawk 44 for our 33 anniversary! Think she is a definite keeper! Must be fate because I'm pretty old school with wheel guns anyways and she knew better than me what to buy ... LoL

Well as expected, going to install hogue grips on it today. Fired 38 rounds yesterday and the middle knuckle is very bruised. While I don't like the looks of them, they do work perfectly for this issue, even better for me than pachmeyer.

Also as expected she's a shooter! But in reality all Super Blackhawks I've shot have been!

How they feel to you is what its all about. Good choice. I love pretty grips as well as anybody here, but will take function over looks, pleasure over pain, on a using revolver any time.
