I had planned on picking up a S&W 617...actually my LGS had a used 617 4" I was going to pick up, but I waited a few hours too long to go grab it. Might have been a good thing.

They also had a used SP101 .22LR and it fits my hand better than the 617. Not as good of a trigger, but it's not bad.

I stuck a Vortex Venom on it with a Raptor Eng mount and sighted it in. Shot pretty well with the cheap Federal ammo I was using. Went after some squirrels today instead of deer. Weren't a lot moving, but managed to get one...posted a pic on the Bragging Board. Was great fun. I'll probably switch sights, as 6MOA dot isn't ideal for squirrel, but I like the SP101 so far.

A good 22 is a great companion!

Sounds like you got a winner.

Try installing a Wolff spring kit, it really improved the trigger pull - single and double action - on my SP-101. I really like that Ruger with rubber Hogue grip.

I will try that. I don't want to cause any light strikes, but can always switch the springs back if needed.

Interesting.

I have two SP-101s in .357 but never shot one in .22. Triggers on mine are a little crunchy in DA but pretty good in single.

The grips on the SP 101 are probably the most comfortable factory revolver grips I've ever used. They really got that part right.
