New shooting sticks - 07/31/2020 8:15 PM

I got tired of regular shooting sticks not being easy to move or fit the S&W's so I designed a different set. These clamp together making it easy to move from side to side without them collapsing. They have a groove for the Contender forearm and one for the S&W yoke. Height works from a standard chair to sitting on the ground.

DT: AFTER A LOT OF HUNTS USING SHOOTING STICKS, I CAN UNEQUIVOCABLY SAY THE YOU NEED 3 LEGS ON THE STICKS AND NOT JUST 2. 2 MAY WORK FOR THE RIFLES BUT IS A VERY POOR CHOICE FOR HANDGUNS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHOOTING STANDING.

45MAN, I agree that three legs are much better for stability but are also much harder to adjust. If I know I will be standing I don't take a handgun as I am just too old and shakey to be shooting at game off hand. I use a photography tripod with a cradle when I zero in my sight or test ammo as it is very solid but I wouldn't want to carry it far. Seated with my back braced I find the shooting sticks very steady.

45MAN X 2. Unless you have your elbow rested or the complete handgun rested on something (PSR, backpack) the chances of being accurate at most ranges is minimal. 3 legs are steadier than 2.

Well, I had the chance to use them today. Setting on a box from 50 yards I could hit a 4" disk consistently with my S&W 617. By holding the yoke, my wrist falls under the butt of the handgun making for a good rest not perfectly solid but about as good as can be expected.
