A Day to remember

A Day to remember - 04/05/2021 1:10 PM

I've gotten a reputation as a groundhog hunter. It's been a life long passion of mine. I started getting serious on 7/15/1975 when I moved to the Potomac Highlands of eastern WV. Hunting them has made me a better shot and prepared me for all my big game hunts.
I've kept exacting records of all the guns I've used and the distances of the kills.
My #1 gun are my SSK and Rem. rear grip XPs with 1714 kills. #2 .223 T/C Contender-1199 kills. #3 SSK .250 Sav. AI-1123 kills #4 FA/Ruger/Taurus .454s-855 kills #5 .44s 849 kills.
All my handguns up to .416 Taylor Encore have taken groundhogs. A very special day occurred 2 weeks ago while this site was down

It's been a long, satisfying run. I hope I can keep it going.

It absolutely boggles the mind the records you have kept of your hunts and kills. I really wish I had done it but far too late in the game for me to even start. Awesome job!

Doc,
Since the coyotes moved in 20 years ago, I rarely ever see a whistle pig anymore. Started whacking yotes instead every since. I learned to hunt big game as a little guy stalking groundhogs. Sure do miss it!

Congratulations on breaking the 1400 mark. Keep on keep’n on!!

A milestone like that is a rare thing for a handgun hunter.
