#2 Last Minute Deer with 357 Max - 03/29/2022 2:06 AM

Ohio had two additional days of deer season Saturday and Sunday. I was in tree stand by 6:30 AM. At 11 AM I headed for lunch and to warm up. Woke up to 28 degrees and the toes needed to warm up. Decided to hunt small food plot in the afternoon. 5:10 PM this doe walked into food plot. 70 yds shot and she must have run 60-70 yds. Really hard to tell when it’s dark. Bullet entered 3 inches behind shoulder and 6 inches down from top of back. Hornady 180 XTP @ 1880 fps did not exit. There was a nice blood trail to follow

Some use the 158gr xtp or xtp fp. I wonder how it would have done. Looks like it hit a rib maybe??

Yes that is the entrance wound. The 180 XTP is doing 1925 fps. I wonder if the 158 hold together at 357 Max velocities?

I thought I was the only one with a Brake on a 357 Maximum. Sure makes it a lot more pleasant to shoot.
Nice way to finish up the season by the way.

I got the China Flue just before Christmas, then Blood Clots in both lungs. I missed the late season here in Missouri.
Around $150K in hospital bills, and I am pretty much as good as new for someone my age that is smile
