Okay guys, any secrets in fire forming this bad boy? I read two versions. One guy says load up yer ol '06 and shoot em in the chamber; the other feller says to squib load some to set the shoulder, then resize and work up the load? Whis is it?

Ger, the first answer is ideally correct.....but, in the sense of being cautious, at least for me in my '06 AI Encore, I loaded up a starting listed load for any weight boolit, and set it into the lands....worked great, and accuracy was great as well. This is the only way I know how to fire-form, so I stuck with it, and cases formed perfectly.

Hey
My 280 AI I just shoot a standard 280 out of her and have had no trouble yet , I don't like to use squb loads.

Hey Jeff, where do I go after I have them formed, what are you shooting? Velocity? Accuracy?

Ger,
have not chrono'd them yet, but as far as loading goes, it does not do a whole lot more than the the reg. '06.....beacause the shoulder is formed lower on the case. The powder increase may only be less than 2-3 grains over max '06 loads. I start right before max, and go up till over-pressure is noted and back off. H414 is working real nice for me right now. Accuracy is outstanding, and recoil in the 15"er is really not bad at all. Highest bullet I've used so far is 165's, but plan on going up to the 200's just to try them out. Case is cool looking.

Hey little man...got one in Mauser rifle...shoots great and performance is ok. Much prefer the .30 Gibbs though. Formed the AI w/ a slightly reduced loadand jammed into the lands like Jeff said.
