Black Pig with a Blackhawk - 11/10/2006 6:47 PM
Yesterday afternoon I went to work on a feeder at my lease thats been giving me trouble. I had its replacement filled with corn so I would only have to make one trip in and out, cause its a long hump in and out in kneedeep water. As usual my .41 blackhawk was on my hip. About 100 yds from the feeder I can hear the pigs heading for a snack. I have to hustle to beat them there trying to be as quiet as possible and not end up swimming and dunking my new feeder. I get to a good vantage point and set the feeder down on the exposed roots of a big water oak. I ease my revolver out of the holster and get ready. The first pig breaks cover and I put a 210gr XTP through her shoulder. She goes down DRT. At the shot all hell breaks loose! Pigs are running everywhere squealing and growling wondering what just happened. I move to my right to get a better line of sight and another one is standing broadside about 30-35 yds away. I hit her though the shoulders and she falls into the ditch and comes out on the other side hit hard. The hogs decide enough is enough and haul butt. I cut loose on a big spotted hog but missed.. After everything had settled I check out my pigs. The first died where she stood and the second died on the other side of the ditch. I hung the new feeder and drug the first pig to the truck and took some pics. I went back this am with waders and got the second. Both are perfect BBQ hogs about 50-60 lbs. The fisr pig was hit just in front of the shoulder and the round exited the rear ham. The second pig was hit through the shoulders and didnt go 50 ft after the shot. I couldnt find any sign that I hit the third. The pig in the pic is the one from last night, I didnt take pics this am. I was pushed for time and soaking wet. The second pig was identical.
