Refinishing stocks

Refinishing stocks - 07/29/2007 12:33 AM

I just picked myself up my first XP-100. I was thinking about refinishing the stock, and was wondering if you guys that have done this had any advice. I found some textured paint at the hardware store today and that got me thinking. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Oh, that is a whole differnt and much easier project.

Synthetic stocks can be painted with regular spray paint or coated with several different materials.regular Krylon spray paint works as does the bake on types from brownells and other places.

Many people use and like the textured look of the spray on be liner stuff. It can be found in spray cans at Walmart and the auto parts stores.

Good luck and post a picture of the finished project.

I used a Rustoleum product that is textured paint to refinish my XP100R in 22-250. It makes it much more tolerable to look at and actually convinced me not to change the stock to a wooden aftermarket stock.

Give it a shot, if you don't like it you can sand it and do it again. Make sure to degrease it and prime it good before applying the finish coats of paint.
