VA Muzzleloader season Great First Day - 11/03/2008 12:54 PM

I was able to take a small buck on Nov 1ST right at light with my new custom T/C Carbine Muzzleloader with 16.25 MGM Barrell with a pistol grip. Was a shot of a life time 175 yards free hand held at top of his back 250gr shockwave took him out dropped like a sack never moved again had a couple of buddys who were with me and deer walked out behind us in a field as soon as we got to hunting grounds friends were not ready to shoot had to take the shot. I had been working witrh the gun for a coule of weeks and felt good about the ballistics i was seeing with 100gr of tripple 7 ffg and the 250 shockwave. That shot will be talked about all season around here what a big head i going to have.

Great story Medic404! I thought muzzleloading pistols were not legal to use in VA. Not that it matters now! LOL

Medic that is great. People ask me why I spend so much time at the range and I even practice shooting 8 in gongs at 100 yards off hand. It makes all the difference in the world when you can say you put meet in the freezer! Great shoot.

HEY great shot something to be proud of. I have a question on the carbine.Does it have to be a over all length to deal with not just the barrel length? I was told by a game warden in va. that it has to be 16" or longer barrel and that it had to be over 28" overall length. I can't remember if that is the correct length for overall. I like your Idea and wanted to do something like that. But after what I found out i let it go.Now i am really interested again. thanks for the info.Good hunting

By federal law rifles have to have a barrel lenght of 16" and an overall lenght of 26"

Shotguns have to have a barrel lenght of 18" and an overall lenght of 28".
