Shooting Gloves

Was looking at shooting gloves and was wondering what the users on this forum recommended. I have been thinking it would be in my best interest to use them at the range. I has also planned on going to Cabalas or Bass Pro this weekend to try them on. Thanks in advance!!!

At the range, when shooting the bad-boys, I use a weight lifting glove with wrist wrap. When shooting the lesser cartilage damaging guns and while hunting, I use Browning shooting gloves. These give a nice tight fit with a sure grip. They are the first shooting gloves that I've found, that has fingers long enough to fit me comfortably. I got them at BassPro Shop for around $45+ dollars....KRal

I can't stand the padded gloves with the half fingers because they make the grip feel so fat and they do nothing to keep my hands warm. I use an insulated leather glove that has thin leather and only a small amount of insulation. I get them at Men's Warehouse. I usually only get one year out of them because I'm pretty hard on gloves. They are great because you loose very little dexterity and I can still pluck a case out of an Encore action.

BTW...Gary...areas of northern PA have black squirrels.

Hunlee have an wear brown cotton jersey glove when Hunting!!!!!Hunlee get these at Wally Word in package of three of four for good price!!!!!!When weather is warm Hunlee will wear one pair and when weather get cold out Hunlee wear two pair!!!!!Fisrt you slid on one pair an then the second pair an this work good for Hunlee!!!!!!Hunlee have glove on when walking to hunting blind and when deer are sighted Hunlee take glove off so trigger finger can feel trigger!!!!!!Hunlee once try to shoot with glove on but gun went off befor Hunlee was reedy so from that day on Hunlee take glove off!!!!!This is simple word of advice from Hunlee!!!!!HUnlee has taken many deer,,,,few bear,,,,one elk,,,,alot of small game an Hunlee is very proud!!!!!!!Hunlee is just proud but not a bragard!!!!!

I use thin fleece gloves. The grip isnt that good but generally does not bother me.

I like Hunlee have also take many game!!! Have a couple whitetail in BOOK!!!

What I want is a pair of gloves for at the range. I am not as worried about field applications.

I usually wear a pair of deer skin gloves I found at a feed store a couple years ago. I just cut the trigger out them. For the range the Uncle Mike’s shooting gloves are fine. I like the padding on the knuckles, but I’m like Gary, I don’t like the padding in the palm and web area of my hand so I cut that out with an X-Acto knife.

I don't like the padded palms either. They just destroy my grip.
I have been toying with a pair of mechanics gloves I bought at Auto Zone. They are tight fitting and the material they are made of is slightly tacky. Good dexterity and they do keep hands worm in cold weather.

i use a golf glove when at the range the mechanics glove is a
very good idea i may look into them.

The main thing I am wanting is something to protect my wrist. K Ral, I am going by Bass Pro this weekend. I am going to look at them!

Take a look at weight lifting gloves
They give really good support to the wrist
and pad the palm of your hand

If I have to wear them due to the cold I will use the Goat Skin Work Gloves from the Home Depot. I would rather not have them at all.

I have a pair of Uncle Mikes shooting gloves and they are awesome.They are supple enough to give me a good grip with plenty of feeling and when it's cold it sure makes the 450 marlin,375 JDJ 500 S&W feel alot better,takes the nasty trigger guard bite out of the equation also.JMO,Jim

I don't like gloves that much. I have a set of cotton EL Cheepos that are for when it is very cold. A couple of years ago I plucked out the moola for a nice pair. I liked them until I went to take the safety off at first light on a real nice buck and the glove squeeked really loud against my gun. The buck found me immediately, looked right at me with my mouth all dropped open. I had belly crawled about 50-60 yards to get a shot and blew it with a squeek.

The best shooting glove I`ve found is the one offered by S&W and use it at the range. This is because of an injury to my wrist. When hunting I wear the right hand glove by Uncle Mikes and cover that with a split palm mitten that carries a small heat pad to keep my shooting finger warm.When I`am ready to shoot I push my fingers through the split and am ready to fire.I`ve used this set-up for a number of years and it works well for me.

dont like golvrs cant seem to get a hold of anything ( motorcycle grip, hammer, handgun ) now got slight artritce in hands. thats life deal with it

TCMan, I think the best glove for wrist support will be the glove by S&W that James has mentioned or the weight lifting gloves that have been mentioned. I only used the weight lifting while at the range and while shooting the 475 multiple time but, I'm like Gary and a few others, I don't like the feel of the pads, it makes the grip feel big and uncomfortable. On the other hand, (not literally) they do give good wrist support which, is what your looking for...KRal

I were hearing protection and glasses for a reason at the range. I also know I am not 6’ and bullet proof. I REALLY enjoy shooting my short guns. I want to make sure that I will for a long time

I use too not like breaks… I have 3 barrels with breaks. If they merit one, so be it.

TC, You have the right idea about protecting youself now so there are no problems in the future....

For the range, I like the Uncle Mike's. When hunting. I keep my hands in one of those "hand muffler" things along with a dry chemical hand warmer. When it gets below zero I'll add the thin brown liners that were issued with the military thinsulate lined leather gloves.

I have a pair of Uncle Mike's half finger gloves for the range and then I have some dark Green wool gloves for cold weather hunting. Light Camo gloves for warm weather.
