Anschutz Exemplar .22? - 10/15/2004 12:13 AM

Hi Guys,
I've been a very quiet member of the forum here for about a year now. Got into the handgun hunting thing after reading Mark's book and absolutley love it. Anyway, I had a question. I currently hunt squirrels with an 8" bull barrel ruger and have a ball doing it. Yesterday I ran across a supposedly used (it was mint, doubt it was ever shot) Anschutz Exemplar .22 for about $230. It felt good in the hand and I like the trigger. Does anyone shoot one of these? What is your opinion of it? Would it be a benefit to add this to my arsenal or am I looking at buying a $230 "cool name, but not much else" gun?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Tim Wieneke

That's an excellent price - if it's in the condition you say. The blue book from a couple years ago lists it at nearly $400.

The test target for my Exemplar has nine shots in .43" and a flyer that opened it up to .68". The group was shot at 50 meters with R50 ammo. It also won it's share of matches when I was shooting IHMSA Silhouette. Accurate they are. If I remember correctly, the price was $275 in 1987. Them squirrels are in some kinda trouble.
