Best load for whitetail T/C encore 308 Pistol

Hi everyone,Was wondering what kind of loads you are useing for whitetails with this gun.

I shoot the Rem factory 150 Core-lock in mine. I know not very exciting but they shoot under 1" at 100 and they are $15.88 at Wally world. I started with them to break the gun in and accumulate some brass they shot so good I never changed. I have tried some handloads but nothing has shot any better. I may have a load worked out with a Hornady SST and Varget though.

I'm using a 125 NBT with stiff load of W748. Very accurate and leathal on whitetails.

I'm using the Winchester el-cheapo Silver box 150 gr. PSP. They shoot < 1" @ 100 yds, like the RPs do for H2OBug. I was using them to break in the barrel also; but alas, they shot as well as my handloads. Have taken bunches of whitetails, and antelope at ranges from 35 yds, to 220 yds. The average price at Wally world, $16

47Gr of Hodgdon varget

I have shot a few deer with this load but i dont think the bullet expanded very well.

Would the 125 gr Nosler ballitic tip do a better job?

I'm using 150gr Remington PSP bullets handloaded over 43.5gr Varget in a XP-100 .300 Savage. The velocity would be very close to the .308 Winchester.

Performance on the only deer I've harvested was excellent. The range was 160yds.

Just to give some other .308" caliber bullet experience...from a 30-30AI I was using 130gr Hornady SPs at 2400fps. These performed very well down to 2000fps in a .30 Herrett.

I bought a 308 barrel not long ago and asked the same question. I am using the load KRal passed along to me. I am shooting 125 gr NBTs and W748 powder and it shoots great. Thank you KRal!

You're welcome! If Hac wants that load, would you PM him? I'm at a shoot'n match and won't be back for a week. I think I remember my data, but not 100% sure and don't want to miss inform.
