HEy Hunlee, I have a 23 inch barrel on its way and can not wait to start shooting it. My Uncle only hunts with the 7/30 waters. He has killed a few muley does with the rifle but several deer and a few elk and lots of hogs with the 14 inch tube. Looks like a small but greatly underestimated cartridge especially for how many elk it has killed and never been really talked about for anything bigger than deer.

Hunlee,
I've talked up the Waters before. I really think that old round kills better than it's supposed to.
I don't shoot over the chrony because I think I might be disappointed and then try to hotrod it. There ain't no need for that.
I do shoot mine alot at just about anything so I'm pretty confident in it. It's dead on @200yds and I've killed at 350yds...that was a long shot though.
120grn Vmax works great from mine on deer/antelope/prairie dogs....etc

Ammohouse, My 7/30 waters T/C 14" has killed more game than any two of my rifles or handguns, including a antelope in Wyoming at 350 yds.(witnessed)...I have over 70 guns, and I'll assure you, it would be the last to go..It's just a fun gun, accurate, and that antelope is the only one that EVER took two steps after being hit, including a 300 lb. black bear in Maine...I just love that gun/caliber..Noleman

7-30 is a very nice caliber. IMHO similar to the the 6.5 JDJ in performance. I have taken animals (deer sized and smaller antelope) out to 300 yds with it. I witnessed two large stags (red deer) kills last Sept with the 7-30 using factory ammo. While I think that this was pushing the little 120 gr bullet, both were one shot kills.

7-30 WATERS could be the best all round caliber that T/C offers in the Contender.IMHO
