New Freedom Arms single shot

Does anyone have one, or shot one? I have held a prototype in my hand,and Bob Baker gave me the low down on features. I love the way it feels, a lot less barrel heavy than a TC. Just wondering what anyone who has shot one thinks. What do you think of the .338 federal round also?

Several people on the site have the FA single shots. I do not; however, I have an XP-100 that I built for the 338 Federal cartridge. I love it! It shoots the same bullets as the 338 JDJ #2 at about the same velocity. Very efficient!

I shot Bob's original prototype in 6.5x55 Swede a little over 2 years ago at The Shootists Holiday. It was nicely done.
I've since also shot other examples in .375 Win. and .223 Rem. All 3 seemed quite accurate.
FA has also introduced a new (and shorter) schnable forend this year which looks very nice, particularly with the shorter barrels.

FA Single Shot Range Day

I have two FA frames & two barrels for each. My favorites are the 260 Rem & the 338 Fed. Both are extremely accurate with factory loads. I have not felt the need to develop handloads for either of these barrels.

I really like the design of these single shots. They rest nicely on any sandbag or substitute field rest. (I do not shoot offhand at unwounded game animals)

As my earlier post states, I am very happy with both the 260 & especially the 338. I seldom use a specific aiming dot or target. Rather, I shoot rectangular or round swinging metal targets of various sizes and simply try to "hold in the middle of them." Using this technique, factory ammo, a 4X scope, and with me behind the trigger, both barrels will shoot close to MOA groups @ 200 yds. Many on this forum are much better shots than I am. Thus, I expect that in the right hands these barrels would shoot even better groups.

My only experience using the 338 Fed on a game animal was in Sept of this year. I shot a fallow buck with it. He was only a little over 100 yds and was walking. The 210 gr partition entered where the neck & shoulder meet and the exit was behind the off shoulder. He fell at the shot & never moved.
