Lil Gun max load - 10/17/2013 3:19 PM

Anyone have a max or close to max load of Lil Gun that works with the 440gr wfngc for the 500JRH?

I don't know about a max load but this one might get it done.

My BFR in 500JRH has a 6" barrel and with 31.0 grains of Lil'Gun behind a 440 grain cast with 90* metplate does 1,428fps on average (SD 23)with a rifle primer (CCI BR-2). No signs of pressure in my revolver but it does knock hell out of my trigger finger.

Didn't touch one off with a WLP with Lil'Gun but from my testing the rifle primer gave on average 25/35fps more velocity using H110 over the WLP. I don't use the CCI-350 jus cus. I seriously doubt you'll get much of a pressure spike from that CCI rifle primer over that caused by the CCI-350, which is the hottest pistol primer on the market IMO.

The 90* cast came from Ranger Rick, who no longer is in the business of selling cast bullets.

Just depends on how much pain you like. Myself, I don't much care for it and anything approaching 1,300fps with the 440 grain is not enjoyable for my trigger finger.

I don't know if Huntington's grip conversion will cure that or not but I'm tempted to spend $300.00 sometimes after touching off 50 barn burners wearing a glove just to save a pint of blood!!! as without the glove I split my trigger finger where the finger nail and skin join - it's the only revolver I have that consistantly does that with over the top loads.

Rap, I have a 500WE and have not attempted to shot the 440gr WFN load. After shooting the 400gr load I put the box with the 440`s away. Changed the grips from Pachmyers to FA`s and will see if that helps....
