Reloaders- rcbs chargemaster 1500 problem - 08/30/2015 2:16 AM

Well I finally bought a chargemaster after using a buddy of mines. It worked flawlessly for 5 or 6 loading sessions measuring 90-95% accurate to the tenth of a gray while the others may have been a tenth off no matter what type of powder I use, now the past few loading sessions it is way off, it won't get within .3 grains of the load typed in, actually it is more common to be about .4 to .7 grains off. I'm very frustrated with it. I have it setup in my loading room on a perfectly level surface fan off and it won't meausre any type of powder anywhere close to the weight entered. Anybody have any suggestions on what I need to do or if it's a simple fix? I recalibrate before every loading session and I just bought it about 3 weeks ago

Did you by chance plug the cords into a power strip at some point? Mine only works when plugged directly into the wall as the power strip does something to the line voltage that the scale doesn't like...

Have you tried slowing down the trickle speed?

^ I didn't know you can do that. It is set how it was at the factory. Could you tell me how to do that?

Sorry eastex, I am using the Hornady Lock-N-Load? Auto Charge? Powder Dispenser which allows you to change the trickle speed and I thought I remembered the RCBS able to do the same but according to the manual there is no option to change that. What about entering your charge weight to within say 1-2 grains and then using the manual trickle function to get your weight exact. A little bit of a pain but would be very accurate. Also both these scales state to plug them inand let them warm up for at least 10-15 minutes before starting to reload. Hope any of this helps.

Thanks chad, that is what I have been having to do, just start about a grain low and use the trickle feature to get it exact. I am going to call rcbs on Monday, because after a internet search I can't seem to find anybody else who has had a similar problem

also a straw cut to the right length and inserted into the tube is supposed to help from granules clumping up at the end then falling all at once. havent tried that yet but might have to as mine was overcharging half the loads by .2+
