Trigger Job for my GP100

Trigger Job for my GP100 - 02/11/2016 11:48 AM

I have a GP100 and have mounted a 2x scope on it. The trigger is as it came from the factory. The trigger has no creep but a fairly heavy pull. All of my other hunting handguns have lighter trigger pulls.

What can I do without going to a gunsmith to lighten the trigger?

Wolff springs. I put the 10# hammer spring in my GeeP and it is pretty sweet.

Is that something I can do myself?

Easy DIY project.

Great I just ordered the springs so I will give it a try when they get here.

I used the same 10lb trigger spring and a 12lb hammer spring. If I fire rapidly now and again the trigger doesn't reset. It helped to smooth up all the bearing surfaces. I used 1000 grit and then a crocus cloth slightly oiled. I don't shoot competition so most of my firing is single action.

I left the trigger spring stock in mine. I don't think it has a whole lot of bearing on trigger pull weight and I like a quick positive reset. I tried the 9# hammer spring but had some light strikes. Moved up to the 10#er and had flawless ignition and a sweet trigger so left it at that.

That sounds like what I will try. If it works it is a simpler fix than changing both springs.
