This past Sunday I tested 5 bullets out of my 14? SSK 50 B&M Alaskan into wet newsprint at a distance of 50 yards. Pictured are the recorded results with captured bullet. With the resizing of the image it may be difficult to read the notes on each so I have listed them here. Thought this might be of interest to the board and those that use .500 caliber bullets.

Bullet WT = 189.4gr / 47.3% Retention
Bullet Diameter = N/A ? Jacket - Core Separation
Maximum Shock Ring = 4?
Total Penetration = 10?

Hornady 500 FP
Muzzle Velocity 1710fs
Bullet WT = 490.0gr / 98% Retention
Bullet Diameter = .962?
Maximum Shock Ring = 4?
Total Penetration = 18?

Get a box of 400 gr. WOODLEIGH FP bullets and you'll never need anything else
