Would a 4 5/8" bbl be fully effective in a .480? And is that a stupid question? Sorry.

Thanks for your reply.

No, you're not the only Alaskan on here. I've been on for quite a while, just don't post as much as I used to. There were at least a couple more at one time, Haven't heard from Vance in Soldotna in quite a while.

Also, I see from your profile you are LEO up here. I just got "removed" out of the VPSO program due to a permanent training accident at the AST academy, and my son is currently also a VPSO here in AK. Tipping my hat to a fellow LEO.

Still, for a MSR of $969.00, I think I would look at the possibility of getting the same thing from BFR. If I had $969.00. Which I don't.

the perfect 480! very very nice. running 400 grains and i think you'd get plenty of the 480's potential.

I believe it would be a handful with that short barrel. Hahaha

handy to carry,,, and for backup or close action,, these can be good. If in a defense situation against Bear or Lion or anything threatening, I don't think you would notice. JMHO

It would be a backup to a handgun (or rifle) with longer reach or for closer (sub 50y) shots.
