"Factory Second" bullets from Midway?

"Factory Second" bullets from Midway? - 03/04/2017 10:37 PM

Occasionally, I'll get emails from Midway informing me they have "factory second" bullets in stock for 50% off the regular price. These bullets are evidently either factory rejects or were made while calibrating the machinery.

Have any of you used them? Do they perform as well as regular bullets?

Once...Most were not that bad. Tarnished but a few (4 or 5)of them did not have the crimp grove. The ones I bought were Hornady 300 grain XTP's. Other than that the shot just fine.....

I've used a box of Factory Seconds .416 Hornady 400 gr Interbond bullets...the only blemishes were cosmetic...like scratches (tiny) in the jackets

I shoot Nosler seconds, almost exclusively, mostly in ABs, and I honestly can't find anything wrong with them. Even used magnifying glass.
Are they any good? Killed around 15 deer in excess of 500 yds., the longest 581; 3 WV black bears, 12-15 head of game in Africa up to a 800# kudu (with a 130 AB in 6.5/.284), 800+# Shiras moose, mule deer, Coues deer.
Yep, that's good enough for me.

Well, I have heard of an experimental 4.6mm round that has a roughly .18" bore diameter: HK 4.6x30mm
