Three of the girls in my life recently got together, with a little prompting from me
and bought these Charter Arms beauties in 38 Special. Built strong enough to handle Plus P loads yet light enough to carry all day, IMO they make a fine carry gun for a female, especially if carried in a purse. When I am asked my opinion on a carry gun: semi-auto or revolver? I recommend a double action revolver for a female. And certainly that is a good choice for a male also.
A DA revolver is great in an emergency for two main reasons. First off, the gun can be gotten into action with just one hand. And there is no safety or magazine to worry about, no slide or hammer to cock; all ya gotta do is grab the gun and pull the trigger.
My buddy Rob, the guy behind the gun counter, told us that one of his "more affluent" customers bought every one of the eleven different colors that these come in! It is safe to say that these were designed with female tastes in mind, but I sure like these three.
Oh, and Rob's comment about his female customer who bought all the colors ended with these words: "That way she can choose the right color each day to go with her outfit, so that when she kills you she will be lookin' pretty good."
These three are factory named, from eleven o'clock going clockwise: Shamrock Undercover Lite, Lavender Lady, and Santa Fe Sky.

I shot one of those last weekend with some friends. Seems to work well. It grouped well for me, but unfortunately the owner doesn't practice much with it much so anything smaller then a barn door would be pretty safe at 5 yards.

I tell people the same thing. For the non-enthusiast, they are the simplest, safest, and most reliable.

What do ya all think about exposed vs covered hammer?

I definitely like the option of shooting a revolver in single action mode,therefore the exposed hammer is a necessary evil. Although I do own a Taurus in DAO.
However, that exposed hammer will catch every time when carried in a jeans pocket; which is my preferred method for (some). That is why I mentioned "purse carry."

The thing that kept me from jumping on the Ruger LCR was the DAO action. I bought the LCRx as soon as it hit the shelves. The hammer spur is very low profile so haven't had any issues with snagging.

I'm also a big fan of .38 Special DA revolvers, although I'm personally partial to a Lightweight Commander 1911 .45 ACP.
For most, though, the DA . 38 revolver is a better choice, IMO.

Big fan of revolvers here. I have (5) Ruger LCR's. Both 22 and 38 in standard model, 38 in short barrel LCRx and both 22 and 38 in LCRx 3" adjustable sights.

I recently bought 2 taurus model 85 ultralites in 38 special for my two daughters. Not fired yet.....but love the look weight and feel. Liked to have had one myself.....but......lol. I have an old rossi nickel plated 38 that was my dads. Excellent house guns and best for a lady imo as well.

ive always found charter arms to work just fine, and as accurate as i am or more so.as for a hammer gun just put your thumb on the hammer as if you was going to cock it as you draw and you'll not get a hand up. some will tell you that you need dao so it will not give the da a chance to say .................. BS. if the da is that nit picky then you got more problems than da/sa or dao.
how do the "girls" like the stocks?

I keep eyeballing and considering the Charter Arms options for another "house gun".
Just haven't jumped yet.
