TC Contender Super 14, 44 mag Loads - 02/07/2018 5:13 PM

Building off another post of mine. I was wondering what is everyone's thoughts on a 225 FTX with 20-21.5 gr load of H110?

Seems to me it would work well on deer and Black bear over bait.

Thanks

Hornadys max load for 225gr FTX for H110 is 20.7gr. with case
trimmed @1.255''..... This is in the revolver section... The
Contender section doesn't list any loads for the 225gr FTX..
Rifle Section of the Hornady Manual is 20.6gr of H110. Case is trimmed to 1.255'' also... Reason for the omission in Contender Section isn't mentioned in the manual... Might be worth a phone call to Hornady...

Yeah I'll give them a call. Hogdon has that bullet listed with a Max of 21.5 GR H110 with a case length of 1.28" . Test handgun was a revolver.

Hornady usually pretty good about giving me info so I'll try them.

The freebore in contender 44 mag barrels can dramatically impact the loading and OAL of the cartridge. Older barrels have much less freebore and may not allow for the longer OALs and reduced pressure with higher charges.
