Scope for CVS Sout in 357 mag - 08/19/2018 9:50 PM

I have a CVS Scout in 357 mag on order. What scope would you put on it?. I am thinking about loading the Hornady 158 xtp. I was also thinking about putting z liw power rifle scope on it for early and late woods hunting. Will the recoil be light enough with the gun to be able to do that and is a rifle scope a good ideal for low light?

I have a Bushnell Trophy 2x6 Handgun scope on both of my CVA scouts. They have worked out great.

Simmons or Bushnell Elite or Trophy (if you can find one) 2-6X. Both work well in low light (for me). About every one that gets a 2X wishes later they had more power. Get the variable. You'll never regret it.
I've done some nice bucks and a lot of does with the Bushnell on my 6" Python. Works great.

I have a Leupold FX-II 4x28 on my CVA I had rechambered to 444 Marlin from 44 Mag. I love it super clear and fast to acquire sight picture. I typically do not shoot past 100-125 yards and do not need the variable power. Shoots just as good at 25 yards as it does 100.

For what its worth I picked mine up on ebay for more than half off. took some black fingernail polish and touched up the scope ring marks and no one has ever known that it was scratched.

^What he said^

I got a fixed 2x Nikon on my first 460. Quickly swapped it out for a 2.5-8x Nikon variable. I kept putting the 2x on other guns/Encore barrels, but it kept getting replaced with more Nikon variables. It seems to have finally found its place on a Blackhawk, for now at least.

As for your question, I would recommend the 2.5-8x Nikon Force XR. I've found it works pretty well even in relatively low light, although I haven't exactly compared it to any of my rifle scopes. If you have a spare rifle scope laying around, go ahead and try it on the CVA to see how well you like having a rifle scope on it before you reach a decision.
