Ream 222rem contender to 223 Rem - 04/14/2019 8:30 PM
Is there any advantage to reaming a 222 Rem 10" Contender barrel to 223 Rem.

l have had both 222 and 223 Rem in Contenders AND rifles..
0nly advantage is lots of factory ammo for 223.. Disadvantages
are numerous.. A 223 Contender is much louder than a 222.
For ME.. 223s are not as accurate as a triple deuce ln a TC or a
rifle... Big disadvantage for 222 is BRASS. Quite $$$$ compared
to 223R... Before the short PPC and SM ctgs the 222Rem was the
accuracy KING in benchrest...

Another vote for keep it a triple deuce, it will be slightly more accurate and more pleasant to shoot. What you'll save on brass will be offset on the machine work, 100-200 cases should last a long time if anneal the necks after 4 firings and don't redline your loads.

Not sure what the muzzle flash is with a 222, but a 10 inch 223 with BLC2 is spectacular.
