Ruger Blackhawk Grips

Ruger Blackhawk Grips - 06/29/2019 4:08 PM

I have a Ruger new model Blackhawk, 10mm/40S&W that is fun for plinking. I am doing a front and rear sight upgrade and having the action cleaned up a little. I am struggling with grips though. The factory grips fit very poorly. I ordered some Hogue ebony and they don't fit much better. I am reluctant to keep ordering multiple grips to assess fit due to cost. Anyone recommend a grip maker that it pretty good at fit. There are some hand fitted grips but the cost exceeds the pistol cost and I would reserve that. only if I was doing a full custom pistol which I am not. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I would check flatness of grip frame first.

The issue is not the flatness of the frame, it is the outer edge of the grips just don't match the grip frame very well. Grip frame is flat, grips are flat, they mate up well there. The grips just have a poor shape fit to frame fit.

Try Chigs Grips website. Grip maker Chad Robinett has some beautiful wood and will custom fit grips to your frame, usually for under $100. His fitting is good, sometimes great. Fast turnaround too. I have a couple of photos of his grips on the Bragging Board.

You might want to check TEXAS GRIPS. His grips are reasonably priced and the ones I have fit really well.

Dav. You might want to try SBH Hunter grips. They are laminated

and much thinner than SBH grips. As for sights l have ROUGH COUNTRY

sights on my SBHH

Thanks, I have thought about Texas grips but was wondering about fit, I will also reach out to Chigs Grips and may send in my frame if I go that route. I do have a Bowen rear sight and Hirez front sight for it.

MD Grips

Have dealt with Mike several times. He fitted two of my rugged 480's with Elk Antler grips. Perfect work.

Badger Grips is a good option too.

Jim Badger fitted my Ruger Hunter when no one else could. He has passed. But, the guys that purchased his business are good to help.

Hogue will custom fit grips just send pistol without cylinder. Have same issue with a single six, I haven't sent it out yet but called and was told there was no additional charge for this service.
