I accumulated an Auto Mag with scoped 44AM barrel and pencil style 357AM barrel that fit into mahogany case one of the AM collectors made for me. The 357 barrel was deadly accurate. Regret never hunting with either, however she went for a good cause being a Alaskan moose/brown bear hunt.... I`ve heard they will be back in production...

I sort of wanted one after I saw Dirty Harry use it. Talked to JD. He said the gun was a lot of hype and temperamental in use. Said you couldn't beat a good Ruger or FA.
But...wishes are what life's about.

Back in the later part of the 1970's I was at my first Bowling Pin Shoot near Springfield Missouri. This was the first time I saw Bill Wilson shoot, which was pretty impressive to watch.

While we were taking a break some one brought out a 357 AutoMag and shot a bowling pin with it. The Pin Exploded into splinters. That was a very impressive sight to see.

Pretty neat piece. I used to want one but finally got over it.

Always wanted one.

I have an old book on handgun hunting that Lee Jurras co-authored and he seemed to like them.

In talking with Lee Jurras about mine he informed me that each and every one was an individual unto itself. So developing loads was an adventure if you were solely trying to use factory load data.
Using Lees recommendation I exceeded Hornady load data by 3-4grs just to get the gun to function. His suggestion was load one round with an empty mag until you came to a load that would lock the gun open after firing. That would be your base line.
Mine was very accurate, but I became worried about something irreplaceable being broken and winding up with an expensive paperweight, so after taking some game with it I sold it.
