Speer Deep Curl 44 mag loads.

I loaded up some 270 Grain Deep Curls yesterday with H-110. Tried 20.5 grains and 21 grains. I have two manuals, one listing 21.1 for max and the other 21.5. Best accuracy in both my 12" Encore with a 2x Nikon, and my 5" custom Super Redhawk with a 30mm UltraDot were with the 21 grain load.

Through my chrono, the Encore averaged 1400 FPS and the SRH averaged 1150 FPS. Shot both at 30 yards and 50 yards with very good accuracy. I will shoot further after this weekends gun season.

Does anyone know if the Speer bullets will give good performance on deer with the 1150 velocity. Thanks in advance.

Have used them for years in 44 mags, 445 Super Mags and 444 Marlin, handguns and long guns. Have taken antelope, deer and elk. Most, 99% are one shot kills. Angles from head-on, quartering, side, Texas heart shot. Distances from 20 yds. - to about 185 yds. Animals traveled from DRT to at most 50-60 yds.

Powder is generally an healthy charge of Accurate #9; although, have used WW296/H110 with good results. All used a firm, top down crimp.

I don't believe you will be disappointed.

i shot my 300# black bear with 240 grn hp deep curl, complete pass thru, blood trail a blind man could follow and scrambled lungs. this my new bullet for my 44, very accurate.

I love Gold Dots but not sure the 270gr is going to expand much at 1150fps. Might want to use the 240gr for deer.

We've killed several NC white tails with the Speer 240 gr Gold Dot/Deep Curl....they work great..penetrate deeply and expand beautifully
