Hello all,

Its been a while since I have written but wanted some input on something. I spent a while shooting my SW 460 mag. It shoots well but I realized something today, or maybe just admitted it to my self. I really don't like shooting it. I am not particularly recoil sensitive and shoot the 460 well but between the sizeable recoil and the muzzle blast its not much fun. I know this is not new and has probably been discussed a million times on this site so I say that to say this.

I really enjoy shooting 454s out of it. Even hot 454s. My question is.. Is there a factory ammo in 460 that basically, well, dumbs down the 460 to that of a 454? I know I can shoot the 454 out of it but I don't like having the large gap between the case neck and the cylinder. Unless I am not correct the shorter cartridge's typically is not as accurate and gets more dirty in that gap then the full length cartridge.

Thoughts, other then buy another gun?

Just shoot 454?s out of it and check accuracy, and heaven forbid,.....clean it.

If you reload just shoot 454 equivalent handloads out of your 460 brass.

I believe the federal fusion ammo is a bit lighter and will tame the beast. Check it out. I know most loadings are on the lighter side, not sure about their 460 loadings.

Federal .460 ammo is pretty mild.
