It's hot. Too hot.

I hate this time of year. No season's are open, there's a ton of field and yard work to be done, the Tennessee humidity is absolutely smothering, and where I shoot has little shade nearby to offer relief from the hot sun. I guess I could be getting some reloading done.

What do you guys do to beat the heat this time of year?

Shoot real early in the morning, load in the afternoon, in the AC. Bush-hog if cool and cloudy.

SW Alabama is downright tropical right now. Heat index was 102 yesterday I believe. Just sitting and thinking induces a sweat.

Not much you can do to beat heat and humidity like this ... you endure it.

If the humidity is too bad in TN, you can always come down to MS - it?s not bad at all here. 😜

I have been baking in the TN humidity as well. Working in the shop at night.I usually don't get home till after 9:00PM so the sun is down but still HOT. Working on the Encore 260, a new 10mm build and a slim line 40 the size of a skinny G23. Waiting on parts.........

We have the heat and humidity here in IL as well. I shoot at first light in the morning. I was out this morning and set up and shooting by 0615. When I left at 0830 my T-shirt was soaked.

Will spend rest of the day in my cool basement cleaning guns and reloading.

Miserable in WV ,too, but "hunting seasons" are open. Did 13 groundhogs last week (4 in football field) and 8 crop damage deer in last 8-9 days.
Most of 'hogs killed 10AM- 4PM and deer from 1:30PM to dark.
I sweated a lot and was not a happy camper, but a hitman's gotta do what's expected of him.

Went to the range last Saturday about 3:30 in the afternoon here in Augusta, GA. I was shooting my Contenders and the barrels never cooled off. Had some fun with the .357 Magnum and the .300 Savage Rimmed though. Working on my shooting form more than for groups. Sweat was dripping into my eyes so bad I had to give up shooting around 4:15. After 35 years down South, you would think this Mid-Westerner would be acclimated to this heat. NOT!

Buckshotharris, I lived in August for nine years back between 1976 and 1985. I was in a large hunting club Briar Creek Hunting Club. Do you know the club. I worked in the foundry at Georgia Iron Works. Foundry work is hot work!

God Bless you Redhawk! Yes, I have heard of Briar Creek Hunting Club. Burke County I think. Foundry work is not for the weak. Did you know Charles Gunn while there? I think he was in HR but not sure.

I do not think I know Charles Gunn. There was a lady over HR when I was there. I was the foundry metallurgist and melting supervisor there from 1976 till 1985. Yes our hunting club was in Burke county. We had over 11000 acres when I was a member. I think the club is even larger now.

It is quite large. Little steep for me.

When I was in the club dues were $90 a year for all of the hunting and fishing rights. But that was in 1977 till 1985.

I have been rebuilding one of my trailers, new axle, lights, deck. Run a fan all the time but at the end of the day i'm soaked and stiff. Muscle cramps get bad at night, arthritis makes it where hands won't close in the morning. Getting old ain't for sissies, so I just putter on. If I don't do it it don't get done.

Summer heat/humidity here in north central Alabama is rough too. I try and load some in my shop when the ?cool? fronts move thru.....but Im at the mercy of the weather too.
I try and shoot in the morning when its cooler, but I fight the sun in my eyes at my particular range.......cant seem to win sometimes.
Some how I get what I need done and Im prepared for the most part when season comes along.

1 September 2020
It is finally cooling off here in South Central Missouri. It does resemble monsoon season however. We are now getting some rain. I have cleaned up two dozer piles so far, and started on Number Three. I planted the first in Rape and Alfalfa. I picked up more Rape seed yesterday. I may get more Alfalfa seed also.

I really need to get on fence work. I took out a quarter mile of fence so the loggers on the adjoining property could get all the trees out of the fence row. The logging crew working on my side got it about half cleaned up and then took another job out of state. I am going to need to start rebuilding it shortly.

I did get another tower stand built in the heat. I still need to level the post base blocks, and install tie downs. With luck we should get another case of OD Enamel in Wednesday at the hardware store. I plan on another coat of paint on the bench.
