Teaching others

I got to take a young man hunting this year and got his first deer, an eight point buck. I'm not sure who got more excited. I still feel honored. He asked lots of questions and wanted to learn more. What a feeling to teach the next generation.

That is what we all should be doing. I taught my son at a early age and have a hunting buddy for life.

Agreed, and great job!!! I get more enjoyment out of getting others started than I do out of hunting for myself. Don't bet me wrong, I still enjoy going. But to see the first timer get his / her critter is an awesome experience, and never gets old. You know they are hooked for life. This is one of the major reasons I want to buy the local gun store. Get people started with the correct gear, not just make a sale.

Man, how big of an impact would we, as a group, have on the hunting community if we each got 5 people started in hunting next year??

That's a good deal Okie Hunter! Congratulations to the hunter and you. Did you get any photos of him with his deer? I have done the same over the years. I got a few started in Muzzleloader hunter and shooting back in the 80's and they are still at it. Took a few kids and adults hunting while on a lease near Haywood, OK. They scored, maybe not on their first hunt but eventually. It is a thrill just teaching and helping them along on that journey.
In the last few year I have started a few down that path of Handgun Hunting and that is all they talk about when we get together or they call for some advice. A few were out of state antelope, or deer in Wyoming and Kansas. Still remember those days like yesterday. Ernie Bishop helped me along with a couple of friends after meeting him and some others in Casper, Wyoming for a antelope hunt with handguns for a week.
You keep on helping others and it will help our sport tremendously and make a warm place in your heart when you think about it.
I hope you got to put some of those muzzleloading bullets you got from me to use.
I loaded up the Ruger Old Army 44 Blackpowder revolver with some conicals but haven't had the chance to use it yet. Almost got to Monday evening but the doe was being pestered by a small buck and wouldn't stand for more than a second before she was off again.

Thanks guys. I'm not trying to pat myself on the back just wanted to share my story. Like I said I feel very honored to start a young man on a lifetime journey. As he was asking more questions I could feel my Dad patting me on the back passing on years on experience he passed on to me. In fact I'm still learning from things he told me as a kid.

I have experience with teaching one young man duck hunting. I would teach someone else but being a working student I'm busy with loads of work and classes? I will have to use https://www.topwritersreview.com/reviews/writemypaper4me/ . Tell them to shoot "where he is going" not "where he has been" just like throwing a football to someone "going deep". Also tell them to concentrate on the birds head where ever the head is pointed the rest of the duck will normally follow
