I load a 180gr XTP over 10gr's of Vihtavuori N-350, puts me at about 1050fps.

Has anyone used Unique or Titegroup under a 180 grain bullet?

thank you, i never thought to run that light of a bullet as i have always shot 240's and heavier in my 44 mag. how is the recoil? have you killed any critters with that load? how did it perform?

I killed a whitetail spike with my 12” Contender shooting .44 Spl and 200gr Speer Gold Dot at 51 yards last month. He ran about 30 yards and fell over.
It was Factory Blazer Ammo.

I’ve run 185gr Speer Gold Dots over Unique through a 2.5” snub nosed revolver and got 831 fps.

thanks Zee,
I just loaded 4.8 grains of titegroup under a 245 pcswc keith bullet at 850-875. accuracy at 25 yards was less than 1.5 inches and 3 inches at 50 yards. plenty good for whitetails at 20 yards. i will experiment with hotter loads for me but for my wife, she can shoot the mild loads and kill any deer at 20 yards that she hits in the goodies. will be shooting these out of a ruger stainless flattop 4 5/8" barrel. these loads were shot out of a ruger redhawk 44 mag with 4.25" barrel over a chronograph.
I think i will proressively go hotter until she says "too much" back it down a bit and that will be her hunting load for the gun.

5.1 grains is a hit with my 44 mag. Dawn and i put 12 rounds down range with it. she shot an 1.5 in group and i put 6 out of 7 in a ragged hole just at 3/4" i will load up some more and take them to the range and run them over the chronograph. i am sure they will break 900 fps and that should be ok for her to shoot deer or hogs with. I have some of dicks bullets pcswchp that i will be trying next. i am sure they will run as good if not better.
on a side note the 5.1 shot tighter groups than the lighter 4.8 grains.

I am old schoo
13.0 of 2400 over a 240 cast bullet.
I did load some 180 xtps not sure why.

I am shooting those over 23 gr of 2400 out of my S&W 69 3”. Put a RMR on that puppy.
Bad ass out to 50 yards easy.

BTW
I need a GP 44 spl

I shoot a +P load with a 200gr XTP over 22gr of H110 in my 3” GP100. I smoked a blacktail doe with it this year. The load is leaning on 44mag. I also ran that load in a Ruger 3 screw I converted from 357 to 44spcl.

thanks for the replies. i decided to work up some loads with Universal powder and they shoot great. i ran some with the speer deep curls and the keith PCSWC bullets i cast. both are amazing accurate and hit with enough authority to get the job done. I shot through a moving 200 pound hog broadside with the cast bullet but no recovery- a gut hit with a cast bullet is still a bad hit if you dont put it where it needs to go.
