T/C Encore 45Colt/410

anyone had any experience shooting this caliber. Will 410 slug shoot in barrel with choke in place or does it have to be removed first?

You have to remove it or it will shoot out with the slug. It is great for shooting 410's but less than desirable for shooting 45's. However, in a pinch it is a good backup with 45’s. TC has to put the "45" on there so it is legal to sell. If you want a 45 or 44 single projectile shooter, buy just that. But I have to tell you the 410 is very fun! I shot over 40 rats with one while I was mowing the back pasture on the tracker. A lot easier that using a 22LR.

What he said. Also it doesn't shoot shotshells worth a hoot without the choke in so it is not really a dual purpose barrel as you can't quickly switch from one to the other. It does make a fine shotgun tho, and patterns well out to 25 yards. I use my 'Tender 45/410 purely as a shotgun and it is great at that.

P.S. You won't hurt the barrel if you shoot a lead solid through the choke, but it will tumble upon leaving the muzzle and keyhole.

as a rabbit/squirrel small rodent gun the 410 is verry good 25 to 30 yards is max range due to the limited number of pellets. I have not tried 410 slugs in it.there are some posts of rabbit hunts using 410 contender give them a look.i have tried clays with mine it can be a good challenge.

thanks for the info guys. this is ezactly what I wanted to know. there was no instructions with the barrel other than don't shoot 45 with the choke in.
wonder if the vent rib could be removed to mount a scope. maybe it would not need one after what you informed me of with the 45. pistol is T/C Encore with 15 inch barrel

heard somewhere the scope mount is only 10 to 20 $ if that is feasible yes.i never considered scopeing my 45-410 the 30-30 wears a 2-6 power got $240 into that scope and mounts
