I have my eye on a Encore 15" 460 w/ muzzle break but Im curious about the recoil on it vs the recoil from 15" 35 Rem with the muzzle break. Im thinking about picking it up for my Encore and picking up a 223 or 204 up for my Tender. Thx for the info.

Although I've shot both it's been awhile, but as memory serves they compare about like night & day or black & white (with full house loads)!
The 35 is a pic-nic to shoot, while the 460 will definetly get your attention.

You are going to want that Encore to have some weight to it to help with the recoil. with the 460 try and get a 1" full bull barrel, my rig weighs 6 lbs, you don't need a break the recoil isn't as bad as you think.Get a Leupold scope and your'e good to go.

That's why I ask! I'm not sure if the barrel is full bull or not and it comes with the breaK.

Maybe I misunderstood your question.
Is recoil with the 460 with full house loads & a muzzle break really "rough"? Not to me, but that's subjective. I shot a 15" Encore with factory brake in 450 Marlin with full house loads for a couple of years & didn't mind. Some who tried it once didn't want to shoot it a 2nd time. Subjective.

You asked how it compares to a 35 Rem in the same length, both with brakes right? The 35 Rem is basically "recoil free" in that configuration. Very pleasent for most anyone. The 460 still has very noticable recoil. You will definetly know something happened when you touch it off! Rough? Not to me, but the difference (That was the original question right?) between the 2 is night & day.

I can’t remember if you handload or not, but that can and would make a big difference with recoil. Moderate to “tempo de tear” if you know what I mean.

( When my Conductor states that the tempo of the march we are fixing to play is “tempo de tear” that means batten down the hatches and hold onto your saddle because we are fixen to go for a ride! LOL)

asquires2,

I have both and neither have breaks, but I don't mind recoil.
The 35 Rem is not much at all compare to the .460... with that you have a Tiger by the tail- without a break. IMO If you havn't shot a .460 S&W yet then you shud try the break, it would help you with your groups and getting use to it, JMO. With heavy loads like I shot (That all Single Shot seems to like) are stout and are a handful!! IMO the .460 S&W is a Flat out killer at long range and up close and personal she's AWESOME!! within the 1st 100yds she can put out a lot of energy that most any animal won't beable to stand the hit of. Hope this helps FWIW.
