I’m hoping this is the correct place to post this.

How much accuracy do you lose when shooting a 45 Colt in a 454 Casull chamber?

Will this hold true for the 480 Ruger and the 475 Linebaugh?

Thanks

I have not noticed any accuracy loss in my Ruger Super Redhawk .454. It shoots .45 Colt ammunition quite accurately. If using lead bullet .45 Colts, the chambers need to be brushed before shooting .454's.

it will vary from gun to gun depending on the chamber and throat diameter. It's no different than free space in a rifle chamber, some rifles will still drive tacks and others you have to push the bullet into the rifling. The only way to know for sure is to try and see how your gun does. As stated above it is important to clean the chambers before switching back.

I haven't noticed any losses in my SRH in .454, nor in my Redhawk in .454. There's not a big difference in case length.

I was wondering about this as well. The Freedom Arms I just bought came with a 454 casull cylinder and a seperate 45colt cylinder. The gun only has a 3" bbl, so I could not figure out where I would even begin to lose enough accuracy to need to switch cylinders back and forth.

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.
