This is the last of my projects except for Ed's gun which I'm having a custom crucible made for case hardening it. I'm also having to do alot of extra machining on pieces to keep it from warping in the kiln as it has to cook at 1400 degrees for 3hrs. Once it's done I'll post pics of it and I'll be able to start taking work again since I'll finally be caught up

Anyways I built this for my step dad, he's been a great dad and he's been liquidating his rifle collection to me as well as a couple of pistols. This gun started as an old 41 mag but he wanted me to "fix" it up for him. He was thinking 44 but I went a couple better. The gun carries a Shilen 45 cal barrel and has been fitted with one cylinder in 45LC and one in 45ACP like the Ruger convertibles but this one has a slick
2 1/4lb trigger FA gold bead front sight 11 degree forcing cone and crown, Wolff trigger spring and extra power base pin spring and a Brownells round trigger strut with a Wolff 17lb hammer spring making it very smooth. The frame and barrel are matte blued and the aluminum grip frame and ejector housing are glass beaded matte and the ejector is polished. He dosn't know it's done but he's been bugging me to make him a bullet key chain with the 45LC and 335gr CP bullet so I'm going to tell him the bullet is on the way but what he won't know is it will be a box of my handloaded LC loads with the 335 and box of 230gr rn ACP ammo with the tool to use them.
As a side note the kind of cool thing about this is this gun is no longer a Ruger, as far as the ATF is concerned once I change the original configuration of the gun it is a Dixie Firearms product and will be in there records as such. Most of you know I'm just getting started so the reality of it is just setting in even though there are about a half dozen or so including my personal ones but for me it is a milestone and I look forward to building guns for some of you in the future.

sharp! i bet he will like it. two tone looks good. i've wondered how accurate the 45acp is in a convertible....or 357/9mm....

......and wonder if say a 357mag/38 special cylinder setup is beneficial, or just as good to shoot both from the mag cylinder?

once you get rolling good, i'm guessing you can get quite a bit of work. just be careful of taking too much. gee, i see people get plum bent out of shape waiting and dealing with custom work.
