I don't know about anyone else, but I can't stand Ruger front sights on blackhawks. I ended up making a new front sight for my S/S Bisley and Bisley flat top because I would loose the original front sight in the sun. Does anyone else have this problem with Ruger front sights or is it just me?

I too have trouble with the SBH front sight at times, but figured my options all consist of gunsmiths and money, both of which I am tapped out. I saw a FA 83 once in a gun shop with a v-type back site and a gold bead up front, I think that was the best set-up for me that I've ever run across. It's on "the list'.
If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

The only bad thing about undercut sights like the one on the bisley is they eat up good leather. I am going to change the front and rear on my blackhawk 4 5/8 th. Will try a peep like the one ragged hole sight and some kind of fiber in front. Anyone have any .060 fiber in red or green for sale? What kind of grips or on the bisley?{nice}

I had a Freedom Arms front site base installed on my Ruger. Works great!

They are Vintage Gun Grips simulated ivory, they are a little wider and offer a good grip surface.

I like the FA and Weigand bases. The nice thing about the Weigand front sight base is you can use any of the smith and wesson classic front inserts including ramp with orange insert, post, red or green fiber optic or gold bead.

I had a $20 fix for my problem. Had my smith install a brass shotgun bead in the front blade. He machined the sides to the same width as the bead and drilled/tapped the blade to recess the bead at the same height at the top of the blade to keep it protected. I then filed the rear sight into a V-notch.
I have a pic somewhere.......
