......too high? Or, is there no limit?

I do 90% of my hunting on foot, but do spend a little time in a stand. My berries begin to tingle if I get more than a dozen feet up on a ladder stand. Every now and again I will come upon a tree hugger some 3+ stories up. In my earlier years perhaps, but now......

How high do you hunt? Just curious.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have a stand that is 20-feet off of the ground. Used it for the first time this last deer season and it was a bit strange getting used to, but you get a great view off all that is happening around you!

I routinely hunt from 20-25 ft. I did see a stand one time that was at least 40 ft. That's a bit much.

Depends entirely on terrain, foliage, weapon, and how spooky the game is!

Most of my lock-on setups are 25 feet or so, and geared primarily for bow hunting. When bow hunting from my climbers, my bow rope is 30 feet long, so that sets a good measuring stick for me when climbing in the dark, and keeps the shot angle manageable - but one of my last bow deer was killed at only 15 feet. If In open woods, I'll tend to go higher, but with good backdrop or dense canopy, I'll stay lower.

Growing up hunting NC cutovers, I'd routinely head above the 30' mark for visibility, and having the benefit of tall border pines that taper slowly to make
those climbs possible. With handguns as my primary option in the deer woods nowadays, those climbs are less and less frequent.

In my climber's I get up about 18' to 20' depending where I'm at and I have a ladder stand that's 15' at the seat. I've hunted in some down in Alabama that would give you a nose bleed they were so high. These were located on cutover's and you could see a fur piece across 'em. In the mountains here at home where I hunt I use ground blinds that I make out of tree limbs and logs.

20ft is my maximum.I have had most of my success on deer at ground level,my next lucky level so to speak is around 12ft.

The first couple of times I hunt a spot is when I sit the highest, and watch the patterns and decide what wind I need where to have a good chance and then I move in at ground level.

I've shot blacktail, mule deer, elk and black bear with both bow and firearm and every shot has been from the ground and the majority while still hunting.

12 to 15' is enough. Shot placement gets harder as you get higher.

What ever your comfortable with. I have hunted from Ground blinds to 25 feet up. Like SC said, depends on your surroundings. I guess with my climber I average 20 feet.

I probably average 20' or so. Some lower, some higher, depends on the terrain.

Used to hunt 25'+ in my tree lounge. The past six or eight years it's been on the ground. Personally, I enjoy still or stand hunting whitetails on thier level more. But I may set up a couple of tree stands this year for some wide open fields I'm looking into.

I have filled many tags bowhunting 10 to 12 feet off the ground for shots in the 20 yrd range, depends on terrain and wind also back cover which is maybe most important.

I like my stands from 15-20 for hunting under 50 yards. For 100 + shooting a ground blind is fine as long as my view isn’t hindered. I guess I am saying it just depends on the lay out and situation.
