hey guys here is my first big game animal ive ever taken with a pistol, and a flintlock at that. i snuck up and shot it at 10-12 yards right through the lungs. it ran 15 yards and fell dead. i used 60 grains FFF goex powder and a .530 home cast roundball. this proves that with a good close shot and alot of paitence, a flintlock pistol is just as effective as the modern magnum pistols. here is the story. enjoy SS http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/258740/tp/1/

thanks everyone, it was really an awesome experiance for me. it was definetly an opening point for me and handgun hunting. I have done it here are there but not a whole lot. after this I am hoping to use the handguns alot more. they are so much more challanging and enjoyable.then again there arent a whole lot of weapons that are more challanging then a flintlock pistol haha. im now looking into getting a flintlock 20 guage pistol for squirrel and rabbit hunting. cheers SS

My hat is off to you Silent Sniper. Great stalk and even greater shooting. In getting interested in a handgun while bowhunting I jumped right in to a flintlock pistol. Found out very quickly the flintlock was not for me.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Found out very quickly the flintlock was not for me. LOL When I switched from a cap lock to a flint lock I was out of the “competition” for almost an entire year.

LOL That is when I was shooing with black powder clubs at least once a month. Now I am lucky to get out 2-3 times a year. But that is going to change when I get back to Texas!!!
