Scott Kolar Grips of Burl Mesquite on this 7.5 inch Field Grade! Thought I'd share on my first post.... Sorry for the previous photo problems, as I was not aware that I could not host images from Snapfish here. Thanks

I think I'd like it if I could see it, but there's no photo on my end!

I think I'd like it if I could see it, but there's no photo on my end! Same here - which is probably a really good thing for my bank account...I have 2 Mod 83's that I've been threatening to send to Kolar for some time now! That might be just the motivation I need, or don't need! Welcome to HH Inspector!

I had to copy and paste the link into my browser window in order to see the gun. SChunter, the Scott Kolar grips look really good! Listen to that little voice inside your head...

very, very pretty. I would guess that mesquite is as durable as it is handsome.
If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

Thanks for the kind words. I do believe the Burl Mesquite is the nicest wood Scott offers on his standard menu, although he will use whatever the customer wants. Be advised that this photo was taken in direct sunlight to show the figure of the wood more. In natural light it isn't as orangey. Scott does good work. It's not cheap, but you know how the saying goes.
I will also comment about the fit. For those of you who know how Freedom Arms fit their Premier Grade grips, you will note that they are almost seamless with the frame of the gun. These aren't fit to that degree of precision, however, in Scott's defense, the only way to achieve that kind of fit is to actually blend the wood with the frame (as FA does). Since my gun was a Field grade gun (and glass beaded), if they were fit this way, the gun would need to be refinished. This isn't a criticism, it's just something to be aware of, if you decide to order custom grips. I didn't find that much online about his work, so that is why I'm adding some info here.
I will say that I do very much like the shape and contour. It's very comfortable with enough roundness to get a very nice hold.
Thanks IC
