Working up a load for a new 7MM-08 I have used 43.0 of Varget over a 120V-Max with good sucess in my sons A-Bolt
But I am thinking 140 BT or a 140 Berger VLD--
Plan to stay with the Varget- or may try H4895
Plan to shoot this out of a Savage factory tube
I have 120 v-Max, 140 NBT's and 160 Sierras on house
I will have to buy the Bergers--but that is what I am thinking may be best
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Rod, too.

It's hard to beat those Nosler BT's for killin' deer. They have toughened them up a couple hundred FPS so the 7-08 would be a great option. They may be a bit tough for the Waters now so I am looking for another option for when my old stock runs out.
Rod, too.

45grns H380 under a 140grn Speer Soft Point. This guy was taken at 300yrds. With a 200yrd zero, there are 9 inches of drop at 300yrds with this load. 15 inch barrel. Love the 7 08!!

Nice, haven't seen one like that around here (NW MN) for a while. Used to be common. Whereabouts did you kill it?

SE MN. Not far from Iowa and Wisconsin. Had a much bigger one on trail cam, but he's too damb smart. By the time gun season rolls around I think he goes nocturnal. Only hope for him is early bow season. Mabey this year.....

Bug, I would look in the Nosler reloading manul and see what their accuracy load was and start from their. Varget is a top performer in the 7mm08, but I would still look at 4895 AND RL 15. I know that is not what you are asking, but that is the best I can do. I tried Varget but “I” never found a bullet that it did well with. That just means that I didn’t find the right one. LOL

A good load of Varget and a sleek 140 Nos BalTip is good on 1/2gallon milk jugs and 16oz plastic pop bottles to 500 yards. Never killed a chuck with it past an honest 150yd but it blew him nearly in half. I like chucks cuz the blow up like ripe watermelons. When the targets go in for the day shoot at watermelons; they blow up like grass fed chucks!

I'm glad you asked this question. I bought a 15 inch 7mm-08 Encore barrel yesterday. I was looking at loading data last night. I plan on using some 140 gr. NBTs. Now I need a scope to put on it.
