I have always been curious about bolt action handguns. I would like to have one in 350 Remington magnum.

What are the pros and cons of some of the bolt action handguns?

Seems Savage and Remington are the most widely noted.

You can go with center-grip or rear grip stocks.
Preference?
What kind of over all weight are you thinking?
Barrel length?
Brake?
What uses and what max distances are you considering?

Compared to to Encores they will weigh a little more and longer for the same barrel length.
Those would likely be considered Cons.

Pro's: A lot IMO depending on the uses.
Some are preference, whereas some are strength related and ease of use quickly in field or bench conditions.

Ernie,

I have a Ruger M77 Mark II in 350 Magnum, which I enjoy the versatility of the cartridge for handloading.

Primarily, I reduce the load and make it shoot like a 357 Maximum, but still appreciate the fact it can be loaded full throttle or anywhere in between.

I would like to build this gun using a Savage action w/Accu-Trigger & left handed bolt. The barrel would be from Pac-Nor 1:12 twist & no longer than 16 inches.

Where do I go from there?

Barrel taper, action, muzzle break, &stock.

So many question so little knowledge on how to go about this project.

I would give Chuck MacIntosh a call

Taper is all about weight.
You said you wanted a non-designated Savage action with a Accu-trigger.
Is there a reason for the Pac-Nor choice?
Chuck has a good brake as does Darrell Holland.
I have more of those two than anything.
So you want 16 inches of actual barrel before the brake?
What bullet do you want to use the most?

Ernie,

As for Pac-Nor I saw they made ready to fit barrels for the Savage actions.

Who would you recommend for making the barrel? The only barrels I have ever boughten are from Bullberry for my contenders.

Not familiar with Chuck MacIntosh. Does he specialize in pistols like the Striker?

What barrel length would you recommend or is it personal choice on length?

For bullets I would be shooting the Hornady 180 SSPB for my lighter loads and the Sierra 225 Boattail for Heavier loads. Also the 220 Speer FP or possibly the Nosler 225 Partition for elk sized critters.

leverman, not to high jack thread. Chuck just built two guns for me and AWSOME is the only word I can use. One was a basic build the other was a all out custom. Plus Chuck is a great guy. I bugged the living crap out of him and he still answered my calls.

I had a striker in 308 win some years ago and could shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yds all day,I filled a doe tag at 200 yds with it,no problems.
