Looking to get a new reloading scale--Think i want to stick with the beam type. However will consider a good digital

Just a plain scale don't need the charger

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Bug,

I resisted going with the digital unit/charger combo for so long...don't need it, too expensive, prefer the beam scale, etc.

Broke down and bought one (RCBS Chargemaster Combo) - reloading is enjoyable again! Much faster and super accurate, especially with the cylindrical powders. The beam scale is gathering dust, and I only use it sparingly any more.

Same here except I have the Lyman charger. There are so many that are pretty much equal. I've used a LEE scale for years without problems but I've also used the Lyman and RCBS beam scales and they worked great but I didn't notice where they were anymore accurate than the lee. The nice thing about digital is that it's not necessarily that they are more accurate although I believe some are but if you have a good digital it will be more consistent. I'd say as long as you stay with a major name like Hornady, RCBS, Lyman ETC in the digital line you should be fine. I'd stay away from the off brand cheapo's though.

I have a Lee and a Midway Digital--lee works OK
The digital I find is very tempature sensative--I keep my stuff inside and load in the garage-- so the temp delta is pretty good at times--it takes an hour or two for the digital to settle down

I think I may go with the RCBS 502

I have an RCBS 502 and have been very happy with it. I started out reloading on an old non-magnetic balance beam scale. On hot days I could not have a fan on and had to hold my breath when trickling out a charge or it would swing forever. I bought a Lyman 1000 XP electronic scale that will not stay zeroed. I never bothered sending it in and just use it for archery now. A few grains one way or the other on a 700 grain arrow doesn't make much difference. I don't trust it with powder charges though.

That is one thing about digitals is they are temperature sensitive and in fact my Lyman system goes through a timed acclamation period which I believe is a half hour. It's a good idea to turn it on at least 15min before using and then zero it. I've never had a problem with mine and I still occasionally will double check charges with a beam scale and it's always dead on. I'd say though with digital scales the addage about you get what you pay for holds true.

I use an RCBS 505 scale and it gets the job done nicely. Started with a Lee without magnetic dampening and it did take forever to settle down. I haven't seen the need for a digital, but those chargemaster units that do it all are nice.

I have the RCBS Charge Master. The temps in Houston don’t effect it at all.

I use Check weight very often just to be sure.

I have had mine since they cam out…. No problems at all.

If it went out today I would have another tomorrow.

I have an RCBS 505 at the moment. It replaced the Lyman/Ohaus (Older version of an RCBS 1010)I bought in 1971. My scale came loose on the beam. I normally just use the scales to set up my Uniflow, or Dillon measures anyway. The beam scale works fine for me.
