I am new to this site. I have hunted with handgun in the past, but getting back into it. I picked up a Contender with a 35rem, and 223 barrel. it came with a 2.5 x7 TC scope on the 35 rem barrel. I want to move the scope to the 223 and get a red dot for the 35 rem. I see ultradot is liked on this site. What other dot are good. I am looking at the Bushnell, tru glo, millet, also. how well do these hold up?

I use nothing but Ultradots. No reason to go elsewhere IMO. They are priced right, have a lifetime warranty, and can take an enormous beating. For me at least, that is good enough.

Before you buy a TruGlo I suggest you go to MidwayUSA and read the reviews, they are not very flattering. The 35 Rem bucks a little and you don't want a fragile sight on it. The UltraDot MatchDot would be nice on that one at it has dot sizes as small as 2moa, up to 8moa so you can aim small.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have an Ultra Dot 30 mm on my 12" 357 Maximum. Over a 200 heavy recoiling rounds and not one issue. It has held zero since the day I sighted it in.
When a company offers a lifetime warrenty you cant pass it up.

Another vote for the Ultradot here. I have the 30mm Ultradot 4 on my 480 SRH. I've had it on various guns for 8 yrs & its never missed a lick even in Alaskan weather & my less that kind handeling.

To those who use the ultradots; are they waterproof? Fogproof? Weather resistant? I hunt in the rain, because I don't get many days to hunt, and I just gotta go when I have the chance.

I don't know for sure if they are classified that way, but my experience is this. I've had mine for 9 rs. All 9 of those years have been spent on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska. Rain, sometimes up to an inch a day is just part of moose season here. Like you, we can't wait for weather. My holster is open, & while I try to assure that Mt Ultradot wont be so wet I can't see through it, it gets SOAKED, sometimes for days in a row & with no real chance to dry out other than overnight in an unheated tent. I have NEVER had fogging or any other issues. Period. While I try not to abuse my equipment, I use it hard. Mine has hd some nasty drops & bumps. In the 9 yrs I've had it the lightest loads it has seen were 320gr @1340fps 44 mag loads, & it spent a little time on my Marin Guide gun in 450 Marlin (420gr @ just under 1900fps), & has been on my 480 SRH for about 3 yrs. All together over 2000 rds I am sure, & it has never lost -0- on a gun (Warne rings it's whole life, Warne QDs for the last 3 yrs) & has neer flickered. The battery may not last 5 yrs, but I put a new one in every August when moose season is around the corner & it's always still working the end of July. I kinda like mine.

Anyone here use a C-more? It's a little larger than the Leupold or Docter but the quality is great. Available with click adjustable brightness, exchangable modules for varying MOA sizes. Mine is holding nice so far.

like you've read here, don't know if their waterproof but they can take a bad beating and keep going. One of my adventures while trying to get out of my tree stand (16-20 ft?)I didn't latch my holster strap and my gun came out of the holster and fell hitting the hard ground. It knocked my zero off-hitting 10 inchs to the left at 50 yards but I zero'd her in and she's been working fine-it was about 2 years ago I think and this is an ultradot that I bought in 1994,I think this really says something about their quality!
