Well I finally got some loads rolled for the .375 Win. Contender, got out and shot some today and I like what I see so far. I dont see anything wrong with this group, but half the fun of reloading is experimenting, so...

I dont have a chrony, but the empties look great with no signs of high pressure. But, unless something spectacular happens with accuracy, I really see no reason why this wouldnt do just fine as a hunting load. The old doll kept up with my 3-9 x scoped Omega muzzleloader today very easily...keep in mind shes only wearing a Red dot with no magnification. The aiming point lost its sticky, so I traced a circle around it to show where it was in relation to the group.

5 shots @ 100 yds. 1 3/8" group. Two shots in lower right hole.

TC Contender Super 14
35.5 gr. of Reloader-7
220 gr. Hornady flat points
CCI Primers

That looks DDA to me. Nice shootin'

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Thanks guys, Im really lookin foward to this firearms season! I just got done rolling some more, I hope I can slide out to my buddy's range some time this week after work to try them out. Loaded up 5 each of 33, 34, and 35 gr. Rel-7 with same bullets and primers.
The handloads that came with the gun were more accurate than the load I ran today, and just a little milder. So, I figured I would drop down a little and see what happens. Have not been able to get hold of the seller to see if he remembers the load data he used for them but thats ok...gives me an excuse to throw lead.

Ran some loads of 33 gr. and 34 gr. Rel-7 through the .375 Win last night...very poor results with these charge weights.
I rolled up some loads of 36 gr. and 36.5 gr. Rel-7 also and hope to be able to try them out today sometime. I've read the 36 gr. load with a 220 gr. Hornady FP is a very accurate load for alot of folks, so I'm looking foward to seeing the results. So far the 35.5 gr. load has been my most accurate, putting 5 shots inside 1 3/8" at 100 yards.

I like the AA 2015BR behind a Speer 235 gr. Semi-Spitzer in that round. It's not a traditional 375 Win. bullet but what feedback we have gotten, does very well in a single shot application.

those groups are fine in my book, welcome to the reloading family.Thats one of the pleasures is working up accurate loads plus the cheaper cost involved so you get to shoot much more hopefully making us much better shooters!

A couple of folks here, and other places on the web have all had their best results with RL-7 and just a bit higher than your loading. It worked in several different Contenders for several different people and #3s but I would work up on it.

I had a barrel for 8-10 years that I had purchased for the scope that was on it.
Finally sold it was year to a guy in NC, he had it shooting 1.375 in a week at 200 with Sierras.

Since the bullet is more of a semi-spitzer it does somewhat better than the flat nose types. The bullet expansion is moderate at handgun velocities but penetration is excellent. Re.#7 seems to give the higher velocities but top velocities usually don't produce the best accuracy.
