I was able to take the new .35 Rem barrel out last night and get it sighted in at 50 yards before it got too dark.
The good news is that the barrel shot well and the old T/C quick release scope base/rings seem to work great, no shifting of impact between shots could be determined. The Weaver Classic 2x scope functions flawless, and looks really good on the Super 14 .35 Rem. barrel.
The bad news is I wasnt able to get pics of the targets on this trip. Battery was dead on my camera. But, the .35 Rem was keeping all shots in a 1 1/4" group at 50 yards dead center on target.
The ammo was the Hornady Leverevolution 200 gr. flex tips. Hopefully soon I will be able to get some dies and other components for the barrel. So far though I am well pleased with this barrels performance!

Glad it is working for you. Looks to be a shooter.

Rod, too.

Very glad to see a 35 cal fan. I hope the caliber doesn't fade out anytime soon. We've had good reports about the Hornady flex tips as well.

Next range trip will be to shoot the Leverevolution loads at 100 yards to see how they do. Im really liking this set up as much as my .375 Winchester, hopefully I will be able to harvest deer with both this year. This will be my first time hunting with a handgun and its long over due. I love hunting with my T/C Omega muzzleloader, but its time for some added challenge.

That was my question, what kinda ranged can you get out of the 35 rem.

The 30-30 and .35 rem were for years called 100 to 150 yd guns in rifles. The .35 is an excelent round, fairly mild in a 14 inch barrel and kills well [with well placed shots and good bullets.] I have 2 barrels in .35 rem.14in.and one 10 30-30 and have killed deer with all 3 inside 100 yds.
I know I will catch HELL for this but that is the range I still keep them to. Will they shoot farther, yes and accurately, but they are running out of energy quickly. If you want to shoot farther on game animals get a faster more powerful cartridge, and practice practice practice. On steel and rocks the sky is the limit. On the farm I hunt deer can be gone in two or three jumps and 100 yd shots are rare. Not trying to ruffle any feathers guys J M H O .

i'm good out to around 200yrds with my 35. killed a few deer there. it really thumps em hard too. energy is no question at 200 with it. of course i'm speaking of reloading your own ammo also. 39.5gr of h322 with a 180gr hornady ssp, single shot bullet at 2150-2180fps. just a lil more juice than the factory lever action loads.

not giving you he-double L, but just relaying what it is actually capable of for me. i don't HAVE to have any more speed/power at 200 with it.

There are a lot of folks that wish the 35 cal would just go away along with the 25 cal. I kind of have a soft spot in my heart for them and some of the other "boring" rounds. In my book the 35 cal bullet does the job it needs to without having to re-invent the wheel. We've been doing some work with the 358 Bellm wildcat (444 Marlin parent case) and the 200 gr. Hornady FTX Flat Base bullet with very good results. Best of luck with the deer!

I am looking forward to hearing how you like the hornadays. I picked up a 35 rem 14" before I deployed and have not got to shoot it yet.

My personal opinion is that a 30-30 or 35 Rem is more than a 100 yd gun. In the places that I hunt, a 100 yd shot (or further) is the norm. I do not hesitate to use a revolver at 100 yds. IMHO, either of the two mentioned above will perform adequately at distances far beyond revolver range. However, --- IMHO --- 200 yds is about the limit that I would want to push either of them on a game animal from a contender. Therefore, I call them 150 yd rounds.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

Very glad its working out for you, never owned that cartridge but if I had a TC that would be on my wish list, deer should be in big trouble with one of those 180 or 200 grners in there chest.

Hopefully I will harvest deer with the .35 Rem. and .375 Win. both this year. We can take an extra doe this year here in Indiana, so it's a prime opportunity to do so with both barrels.
The area I hunt usually offers shots under 150 yards with 50-100 being the norm, and I would feel comfortable shooting either barrel at that range.
I think I'm gonna take the .375 out first as it has garnered alot of respect from me concerning it's capabilities at the range.

I have a .358 J D J which should be very close to the Bellum cartridge, and I use 200 gr. Rem sp.in it. It wears a 2x Leoupold. Not enough scope for me anymore ,will put a variable on it when finances permit. Both of my .35 Rem. barrels shoot the 180 gr Speer FP. really well and all kill well as does the
30-30 10 inch. The 30-30 was my silhouette gun for years so has been shot at 200 yds extensively. The hardest decisions during deer season is not which caliber do I use, but which gun do I use today. I sight them all in at the same distance and tape that sight setting to the scope . The .45 colt is always with me.
Black powder starts in October, best of luck to everyone.
