Been searching the web for Encore barrels. Two names keep appearing,Bergarra and Katahdin. I know the Bergarra barrels are made in Spain. I know nothing about the Katahdin barrels. So what's the Katahdin story?

The katahdin is just a specific model made by T/C. It's an 18" version of their rifle barrel.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I'd check out Ed's TC's. He's got great prices on all sorts of TC stuff and I picked up a .460 katahdin for hunting here in NW NC. He also has quite a bit of used stuff too and optics as well. The Katahdin barrel is really nice for the thick stuff and also for lots of climbing in the mtns. I had a 45/70 when I lived in NH but I went back to a pistol in 30-06 and also a rifle barrel as well. Happy Hunting

When Indiana approved center fire rifles firing .357" or larger cartridges 1.16"-1.625" long I ordered a .460 Katahdin barrel for my Encore. It is 20" long. My grandson shoots .454's and it makes him a nice deer gun.

We have a 460 at the store I work at. thinking about buying. Wondering how loud it is with the short barrel. I know everybody uses ear protection at the range. Just while hunting if you didn't have time to put protection on could you shoot it and not be death

if you didn't have time to put protection on could you shoot it and not be death I wouldn't want to find out.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
