Normally the only way my bullets leave the comfy confines of their crimp is with a ball of fire on their tail. But, I got some reloads from a guy that had sold his .480R Encore barrel and let's just say he thought he had a .475 Linebaugh there. He did keep good notes, and thank goodness as the lightest load he had was a grain over Hodgdon max for the 325 and li'l gun and I wasn't about to test my SRH. I hate to buy something if I can make it, and I'm a bit frugal (cheap) as well I'm told.
So, off to the farm and fleet store with somewhat of a plan. After dropping $5 on a 5" nipple and a couple of caps, for natural gas lines, and a 12mm washer I was headed back home. I had to shave a few thousandths from the outside of the washer, but the inside was .515" and the 480 case fits perfectly. I grabbed the #5 shellholder and was popping slugs in no time. I pushed a rubber chair tip down the pipe to save the bullets.
It took about 8-10 drops down a 6' length of 2" PVC onto my concrete floor to get them to go. It was much quicker to just grab it with a gloved hand and do the smackdown, about 12-15 solid raps is all it takes.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. Easy DIY project.
Any standard shellholder will work so it is essentially universal, although one may need a different sized washer for smaller stuff.
