That flings a craving on me. I have been wanting a .243 barrel for my Encore.

I went 243AI cause brass doesnt stretch as much. I like a 243 it gets the job done.

I have a .243W XP-100 w/ 17" Kreiger barrel.....it's a true shooter!! Uses Varget and 70gr NBT....never chorno'd it. It's put down a ton of 1/4 MOA group at 400yds when the wind is cooperating. Mine is a 14" twist.

I had a 14 twist MGM encore--My buddy Mark has it now--shot 55gr NBT's out of it over varget--

That barrel shoots better than me--it is no problem keeping them in 2" @ 300

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I could not get anything over 70 in a boattail design to stablize(did not try many)--I tried some 85 Sierra HP's & 80 NBT's--they were great in my 10 twist--did not work well at all in the 14--
Never tried any flat base bullets--they may have worked in the 80gr range--

The 55 NBT's and 58 V-max shot so well I never tried anyting else --other than just a few rounds that were loaded for my 10 twist.

Anything over 70gr in this barrel. looks like your sticking a knife in the target. I wanted a light bullet gun anyway.
